Had a great experience at Oscar's Oceanside. Beautiful ocean views, excellent service, and delicious food made for a memorable meal. A perfect spot to relax and enjoy the Virginia Beach waterfront.
We had a reservation and arrived on time. Saturday night at the waterfront... This place is empty. And they make people wait. The service was beyond slow. Our food came and we had no place settings. Maybe a victim of the labor shortage... But mediocre food and absent server. Orders came out wrong. Scampi came with two kinds of pasta. For 18 dollars should not be random noodles.
Came here for appetizers and some drinks. Great ocean view. Phenomenal service, our waitress was very attentive to our needs. The appetizers were good. Crab dip could have more crab, it was too soupy for our liking. Everything else was delightful. Definitely try this place out if you want ocean breeze and the spot across them had a band playing while we were eating so it was win win with a great view. You can choose to eat inside or outside (recommend eating on their deck).
A nice restaurant right on the boardwalk! Nice atmosphere ! Live band was playing across the way! Food is really good, but a tad pricy. We had the Mahi Mahi, and a side of the real rubberized mushrooms, and some new fangled anchovie Caesar salad. The fish tasted like a block of deer salt that Bambi would have had to get up at midnight to pee, and a bit parched! Lay off the salt and bit! Our server, was Jade, nice and just maybe a bad night but not the most attentive today, but she was nice. It was slow for a Wednesday. But “Hannah Montana” was a great server who greeted us with a smile at the door, and was super nice to help us!
Please do not be fooled by the five-star reviews. I am sure the staff’s friends are writing them because the service is the worst in Virginia Beach. On our last night in Virginia Beach celebrating our anniversary, we decided to end our final night at Oscar’s, and what a major mistake. We had an 8PM reservation. When we arrived, the restaurant was fairly empty. We sat and waited over 30 minutes before someone came to get our drink order, and that was after my partner went to say something. After getting drinks, we waited another 20 minutes for someone to take our food order. While we sat waiting for service, the servers and host sat at the bar and had friends come in and join them. It was the worst decision we ever made to celebrate our last here. There is nothing luxurious or admirable about this place. It is 2024, and they are charging like a gas station. If you pay cash, you pay the cheaper bill, but if you use a card, there is a surcharge. It doesn't make any sense. What nice restaurant does this??!! I have never had this happen and will never be back. There are so many better options on the beach, and this place is not it. Please do not be fooled by the 5-star reviews because that is not the level of service or quality you will receive.
Obviously a fine dining establishment, so you go in expecting prices to be high. No problem there. With high prices though, one would expect the food quality to match as well as the drink quality. Food isn't bad, average at best. Same thing with the drinks. Flat beer. Notch 3 (I think that's the name of it) was horribly flat and disgusting and shouldn't be served. Service is pretty good, atmosphere is beautiful.
Great food and fantastic service! Fun and well-balanced drinks - fruit flavors in the passion fruit and black cherry rum drinks really came through in a nice way. Excellent bread and salad options - appreciate them splitting our Oscar's salad for us. NY strip was cooked perfectly and paired excellently with the sauce, and my wife loved her shrimp risotto with the addition of expertly-prepared scallops. Very nice blueberry crumble NY cheesecake for dessert. Classy establishment, well worth the price tag.
Fancy dinner, fancy service, fancy atmosphere, fancy price. The food, service, and atmosphere is great, and I would hope it would be for the price tag. My wife got the surf and turf (8 oz filet mignon with 6 oz lobster tail) and I got the cowboy ribeye with lobster tail add on. We also tried the lobster bites and creme brûlée. All were amazing. My only complaint is that they asked if we were celebrating anything (which we were celebrating our anniversary) and we didn’t get anything. Why ask if there’s no reason behind it? Maybe next time we’ll try asking if they have any offerings. Overall the experience was very pleasant along with the food and service. Would strongly recommend for special occasions.
